Growing Wheatgrass
Wheatgrass juice is catching the interest of health enthusiasts because of the numerous health advantages it boasts of. Also, it is possible for you to grow your own wheatgrass from your own home because it is very easy to take care of. We will list down the steps on growing wheatgrass properly so that you will be able to prevent the destruction of molds.
Most gardening stores don't usually sell high-quality wheatgrass and it might also be hard to buy one from them. Most people choose to buy their wheatgrass online and in rare organic health stores because they are assured of the quality. Once you have bought your wheatgrass seeds, it's about time to start knowing more about planting and growing wheatgrass.
To begin growing wheatgrass, you must first soak your wheatgrass seeds in water for around eight hours. Before the soaking time ends, prepare a 10x20 inch seed tray with around 2 inches in depth. Then, you can proceed to add moist compost, peat moss, and we also recommend that you use an organic grower that will optimize your planting progress.
After soaking the seeds, you have to drain them, rinse and then drain it again. Scatter the seeds around the soil but not far from each other; let them have close contact without really coinciding to let them grow well and freely. Don't let your peat moss be too wet because too much moisture cripples and could eventually stop your growing wheatgrass.
Lightly and sparsely water your soil bed to start the response between the moss and the seeds that are already beginning to grow, make sure you give the seeds equal sprinkles of water. Your growing wheatgrass seeds should not be too wet but make sure they are also not too dry. This is a very important part in tending your wheatgrass to ensure its healthy growth.
You should cover the tray with moist newspaper, another tray, or a bubble wrap. Shedding your tray seals the moisture necessary to grow your wheatgrass well and prevents it from completely drying up or from growing unnecessary molds. Growing wheatgrass should usually take not more three days before it becomes inches tall.
The growing wheatgrass should be uncovered so that it could get mounds of subsidiary sunlight to quicken its progress. We say indirect sunlight is better because if you use direct sunlight with the growing wheatgrass, it might dry up quickly and paralyze the development. Sunlight boosts the growth of chlorophyll in the plant as it makes it greener and fills in for more than half of its benefits compared to its initial yellowish look when it first sprouted.
It is recommended that you harvest the growing wheatgrass once it is around 7 inches in height because this is their so-called peak when it comes to nutritional content. A dining knife or plain scissors could be used in harvesting your growing wheatgrass but before you start juicing, make sure you wash your wheatgrass properly so that you would be able to taste well the goodness of wheatgrass juice.
